Universal Search

Post by arafatenzo »

Example: I have a site that talks about oranges, with hundreds of pages dedicated to the topic of oranges. The search engine will then insert my site in the category oranges and will show it among its results for this search . If I start talking about limes, on my site about oranges, my site will not automatically rank for this key. At the very least, I will have to dedicate several pages to this new topic or, better yet, a new section.

But Google does not only categorize sites, it also does it with users, based on the searches they perform. Thus, based on the interests shown by users, the search engine decides to prioritize certain resources over others , because, presumably, they are the most interesting for the user. This behavior of Google responds to a principle of affinity between the categorization of a site and that of a user.

Google also categorizes searches and intent . The search engine knows that there are Brand, Transactional, Informational and Navigational keywords and, depending on the type of keyword, applies poland phone number different algorithms.

For informational keywords, such as “Napoleon’s birth date, Brunelleschi’s structures,...” it is practically impossible to rank in Google’s SERPs by creating a site, because the search engine takes this type of information from official sites or Wikipedia. Obviously, we could rank for a certain informational keyword if there was no official site capable of answering the user’s query.

If this were not the case, we could only be able to position ourselves for an informational keyword thanks to certain multimedia resources: using images ( Google in fact takes images from all other sites on the network), creating a YouTube video, or with Google News . This is where Universal Search comes into play.

All Google vertical search engines (Images, Video, News, Maps, Books, Products) converge in google.it , giving life to Universal Search. This means that images, videos, news, etc. also appear in Google SERPs…
