According to the Kroezen brothers, it can come across as more authentic and genuine if the original spelling mistakes and writing style of the reviewer remain in the review, otherwise it may be taken less seriously than someone who writes fluent sentences. In addition, visitors are
And that is difficult, because nobody wants negative reviews on his/her site. The Convent hotel in Amsterdam has solved it as follows. The site mainly contains positive reviews and the entire list of reviews can be viewed via the Tripadvisor widget. The luxury hotel chain The Four Seasons dares to take the risk of negative reviews . With their box 'Reviews at a Glance' you can go directly to Tripadvisor, brother cell phone list Twitter and Facebook and all reviews can be read in real time.
The Dutch review site Zoover offers the possibility of syndication in this context, whereby the reviews can be read both at Zoover and on the site in question (e.g. Neckermann.nl ). In this case, the potential customer does not leave the site, as with the widget of the Convent hotel, but all Zoover reviews can be read on the site itself. This prevents the reviews of competitors from being visible.
The review sites advise accommodation providers to respond to both positive and negative reviews. Tripadvisor offers this option and Zoover has a free module for accommodation providers to manage their reviews.
5. Platform/site independence
Finally, the platform where the reviews are placed is important for reliability. It is not surprising that consumers attach more value to a review on an 'independent' review site than on that of the travel organization (or accommodation provider) itself.
But what are 'independent' review sites? Tripadvisor and Expedia.com , the world's largest online travel agency, both belong to the same group. The Dutch review site Vakantiepanel.nl is a collaboration between tour operator OAd , travel agency chain D-reizen and Toeristiek . What is special is that Toeristiek has been known in the travel world for years, because of its objective information. But is that also known to the consumer? This special advantage is hardly given any attention on the site .
Are reviews reliable?
Reviews are not always real, honest and reliable, but they are very important in the consumer's purchasing decision process. They are read with healthy distrust and have more or less influence depending on the person who reads them and how he/she assesses the above-mentioned factors.
