The most common cyber attacks are classic phishing schemes , adware, and credit card theft . The threat of ransomware and cryptojacking attacks is also growing.
A new variant of ransomware called EV ransomware specifically targets vulnerabilities in the WordPress content management system. This attack explores the system's weaknesses. If it manages to kenya phone number data penetrate, it encrypts the website's files and locks out administrative access until the site owner pays the required ransom.

Once the attacker finds a vulnerability in your system, most likely due to an outdated plugin ,
they will execute a file that will start the encryption process. When you then try to log in to the website, you will see a screen informing you that your website has been hacked. There is also a field to enter a decryption key that will unlock access to the website , which you should receive once you pay the ransom.
Unfortunately, the problem with these attacks is that there is no actual decryption key.

What to do if you've been attacked by ransomware
If you have been a victim of an EV ransomware attack, you should not pay the ransom, as there is often no way to unlock your encrypted files. Paying the attacker will only result in losing your money, with no chance to repair your files.

It may sound hopeless, but if your website has been hacked, you can save it if you have a quality hosting provider who backs up your website regularly. Most quality hosting providers make backups every day and have several layers of redundancy. If your web host doesn't make backups, you'll have no choice but to do it yourself. Once you have a backup of your website somewhere on disk, there's nothing easier than restoring it from a backup. Of course, you should then secure your website so that it doesn't get hacked again.
