Post by monira444 »

One of the ways the RIG intern found to get called for interviews was by making connections on LinkedIn and talking to professionals to introduce himself and demonstrate his interest in entering the field. At this point, Beatriz highlighted how important it is to practice proactivity and how these connections are taken into account when changing jobs or sectors:

“Relgov is an activity that is intrinsically about human, interpersonal relationships. So if you are afraid to talk to people to sell yourself, that already shows a problem. Job openings will not always be open at a given company, but you can change the game by being proactive, introducing yourself and selling yourself,” the Community Manager pointed out.

Selling ideas, in fact, was one of the skills Pacheco highlighted czech republic mobile database before working at RIG. He says that during his career at the bank, part of his duties involved selling card machines and other products. When he was a basketball player, he sometimes led the team, which gave him the experience of managing a team to success. In other words, in practice, all the knowledge he acquired previously can be useful in his new challenge.

One of the most valuable tips that Pacheco revealed during the chat was that, during the interviews he participated in and obtained good results, he showed his real value and did not try to pass himself off as a character: “Be yourself! That’s what I say when people ask me what to do to succeed.” At this point, Beatriz agreed with her colleague, and said that she had already been through some episodes in which she interviewed people who talked a lot, but when the time came to deliver, they fell short.

Focusing on what you are good at and further developing your knowledge is also something that usually works, according to the influencer. He says that some time ago, he took a course by political scientist and professor Creomar de Souza, on risk analysis and defense of interests: “It was something I already wanted to learn, and when the course opened I took part. This broadened my horizons, because I was focusing on what I was good at. Now, at IBM, I am putting into practice what I learned, taking part in the political risk analysis processes.”

Another major concern for those who are thinking about changing careers is having to take a few steps back and restart their entire professional development. Regarding this, Pacheco states that it can happen, but that it is a necessary part of the process: “It is something that can happen, but we should see it as a step back to give you momentum and propel you forward in the future” , he states.

Participating in events, webinars, contests and lectures are also very valid ways to acquire knowledge and boost your career. According to Pacheco, this is the time to go out and learn everything you can. He has been on occasions when, on a Friday night, he was participating in two webinars in a row, and today he believes it was worth it, because he learned and expanded his network of contacts.
