It’s a fact: the holiday season is peak season for retail! Like many brands, Picard, a renowned French food company specializing in the manufacturing and retail distribution of frozen products, decided to leverage the power of RCS (rich communication services) messaging as part of its customer activation strategy during this period. Picard wanted to compare the performance of RCS messaging to that of rich SMS for one of its most important campaigns of the year: the Christmas holiday campaign!

Picard called on Sinch to create an immersive and personalized experience for its customers, to allow them to prepare for the holidays with peace of mind.
Sinch and Picard have created a conversational experience to help customers create their holiday menu, taking into account factors such as diet, budget and desire (or lack thereof) to cook.
Picard. This communication channel allows verified senders to send branded messages to any customer equipped with a smartphone compatible with Rich Communication Services (currently mainly Android phones), which means more security and trust, therefore a better customer relationship. Unlike traditional SMS marketing campaigns, RCS also provides strategic information on opening and delivery rates, which allows for better campaign tracking, for an optimized marketing strategy.
Since RCS is only available for Android devices, Picard also leveraged another mobile messaging channel with Rich SMS, to provide an enhanced experience for customers using non-compatible devices, such as Apple’s iPhone, by redirecting them to a landing page offering an instant messaging experience with a chatbot.
