FACEBOOK THREATENS THE REIGN OF GOOGLE, MICROSOFT AND YAHOO

Post by asimd23 »

Google, Microsoft and Yahoo are the Internet portals that receive the most unique users worldwide and, therefore, the ones that offer the most on the Internet, according to a study carried out by Comscore. But the triumvirate is seriously threatened by the arrival of social networks. Facebook has already risen to the fourth position of the most visited websites in the world.

Despite its rapid rise in the rankings, the band data gap between Facebook and the three kings is considerable. Google reigns with 884 million unique users in June 2009, followed by Microsoft with 691 million and Yahoo with 581 million.

Facebook received 340 million unique users (24 million more than the previous Comscore survey ), although the company claims to have around 250 million registered users. But the difference is explained by the fact that there are Facebook pages and content that can be visited without having to be registered as a user.

The fifth most visited website is Wikimedia Foundation . Wikipedia's various portals received 303 million unique users in June. The next places are occupied by AOL (280 million), eBay (233 million), CBS Interactive (186 million), Amazon (183 million) and Ask Network (174 million).
