If in Spain, the most anticipated Christmas spot is the Lottery Advertisement , in the UK the same thing happens but with the John Lewis one.
I especially remember the versions from 2014, 2015 and 2016. The famous Monty the Penguin: “Give someone the Christmas they’ve been dreaming of” , the cute lunar story: “Show someone the charm this Christmas” and the “Buster and the Trampoline” spot … respectively.
This Christmas, titled “The Boy and The Piano ,” tells the story of the power of a gift. How that gift inspired, changed and influenced the course of a little boy’s life. That boy is Elton John .
It begins in the present day and progresses chronologically through the artist's life, up to Christmas morning, when he received a special gift that changed his life.
The song “Your Song” is the soundtrack of the ad, one of the artist’s first hits in the 70s.
The spot goes through all the iraq telegram data important ages of good old John, playing at a Christmas function at school, in a bar… The advert ends with the phrase “Some gifts are more than just a gift” , highlighting the importance that these presents may have in the future.
As in the last nine years, the campaign is the work of the Adam & Eve/DDB agency . Up to five actors play the singer at different stages of his life (Hudson Trindall, Brandon Stein, Oliver Marshall, Simon Burbage and the youngest, Freddie Henderson).
Written by Mike Sutherland, Ant Nelson and Seb Edwards, the spot lasts 2 minutes and 20 seconds and was the brand's first to premiere on social media before its conventional channels.
As in previous years, especially with the penguin campaign in 2014, John Lewis is mobilising several satellite actions to accompany the campaign. The Oxford Street store will offer its customers the opportunity to visit some of the locations where the advert was filmed.
Several of the brand's stores have replicas of the piano from the commercial, so that customers can play it.
I would like to comment, taking advantage of this post, that Lidl UK and its CMs have practiced something that I like so much, which is “real time marketing” … Taking advantage of the great pull that the announcement had, they came to say on Twitter something like this.
