Post by najmulislam2012seo »

Last night (Wednesday, 18th September) the U15 and U17 Gand finals were played at Shamrocks Rugby Club Ocean Park. Shamrocks and Campbelltown played in both matches and in front of a very healthy crowd both clubs came away with a victory a piece.

The U15 match was won by Shamrocks after Campbelltown led 13-12 deep into the second half, and a Sean Anese penalty goal with less than 5 minutes to go, gave them a 15-13 victory.

Blake Schoupp from Shamrocks was awarded the IDRU Best and Fairest.

The Shamrocks under 15's also picked up the minor premiership trophy.

The 17's match was very entertaining with both teams throwing everything at each other. Campbelltown scored 6 tries to 2 in their 39-17 victory. Campbelltown scored a converted try very early, and another late in the half to led 15-3 at halftime. Another 2 tries had the Harlequins up by plenty but the Shamrocks exploited the 14 on 15 advantage to charge back into convention and were only down by 10 with 13 minutes remaining.

Any chance of a come from behind victory by them phone number list stamped out by a Travis Dombroski try under the posts. Another late try on the bell sealed the victory for Harlequins and their 4th in a row for this age group. Shamrocks didn't go away empty handed from this game though, with Captain Keiran Bonin, picking up the Minor premiership trophy and U17 Best and fairest.
Ben Ridgway from Shamrocks was awarded the Sue Smith Memorial Trophy for Commitment and Courage. The Sue Smith Trophy is awarded under the following criteria: “Presented annually to the Under 18 player that has played the most games in the Illawarra Junior Rugby competition. The award carries with it the responsibility for the winner to pursue their Rugby career with the same courage and commitment that Sue Smith showed”.

On behalf of the IDRU I cannot thank Andrew Cracknell and Robert Dickerson from Shamrocks and Campbelltown respectively for their assistance in getting the teams sorted for this mid week experience. To the Shamrocks club committee another well run event, thanks.

To Glenn McGuinness, district registrar thanks for the assistance last night.

To the referees, Andrew Lawson, Tim Hamilton and Ethan MacIntosh thanks for your input into two great games of rugby.

To all the clubs whether they were premiership winners or not well done on another great IDRU Junior season.
