Every now and then it's nice to have a good laugh about silly language mistakes of yourself or someone else. Besides the fact that you always learn from (your own) mistakes, language can also be very entertaining. That's why I went looking for the best, funniest and most wrong communication blunders.
In order to come up with a list of the funniest language mistakes, I have placed a call to our community on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and in the newsletter. Below you will find the (in my opinion) most striking language mistakes and jokes!
1. #ikwildieprik
The most recent hilarious hashtag is #ikwildieprik. Of course, it all depends on how you read phone number list Do you get it? If you don't read 'die', but 'diep'... That suddenly gives a whole different meaning to this well-intentioned hashtag.
Also striking: where the hashtag #ikwildieprik is used on social media, you occasionally see a reaction with the hashtag #metoo. Of course to let people know that someone would also like to receive the vaccination, but this hashtag also brings with it some other associations .
After a search on Twitter using the hashtag #ikwildeipik, it turns out that Geert-Jan is certainly not the only one who forgets a letter.
2. #growingtogether
This hashtag was suggested by author Ronald Faas via my call on LinkedIn . This is indeed also one that, without context, you can completely misunderstand.
A hashtag error that Ronald Faas forwarded via LinkedIn.
3. #toasts
This was one of the tips that came in after my call on Facebook (with the question who has encountered any fun communication fails). If you are going to lunch and you want to quickly let that be known in your slack group or on Twitter, it can easily happen that you launch the hashtag #tostieten. Without having thought about it properly first.
