Demand on the user: Intermediate level

Post by Bappy11 »

Event planning is all about the art of saving as much money as possible without sacrificing quality. If you consider all costs, including indirect costs, personnel costs or costs for event management software , it becomes clear: Saving is money. If you take a closer look, you can save a lot of money on software, especially with the less business-critical programs - and these include video editing programs for event planners. Videos are becoming increasingly important in advertising, and event presentations can hardly do without them.

Four free video editing programs for event planners
Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter have recently given videos a higher priority , which is a great way to promote your events. The eMarketer platform conducted a survey that found that 83% of marketers surveyed believe that Facebook brings them traffic, and 67% believe the same about Instagram.

Luckily, there is decent freeware that allows you to create videos for free. I have put together a list of 4 video editors that can be used to create all kinds of content for your events.

Free video editing software for event planners
I based my selection on various criteria. Firstly, I wanted to present both beginner-friendly and advanced solutions, and I am presenting two solutions from each area here.

Secondly, I wanted to include advanced functionality in addition to the standard features of such video editors (for example, trimming, audio mixing, titles, transitions, etc.). Therefore, each program presented has at least one of the following additional features: 4K editing, mobile video editing, social media interfaces or open source code.

The list is in alphabetical order.

1. iMovie

iMovie on Mac, iPad and iPhone (Image source: Apple)
A lot has changed since the days of the QuickTime layout, simple transitions and few available effects. Today, iMovie offers all the basic functions such as cropping, transitions and filters, as well as advanced editing functions such as sound editing, high-quality video templates or the ability to edit videos in 4K resolution.

With iMovie, the editing process essentially becomes a plug-and-play application. Titles, transitions, video clips and audio tracks can be moved using drag and drop. This is extremely convenient and saves time when creating promotional materials, presentations and more.

The finished sequences can be uploaded just as quickly to social media and video channels directly from the application. There are interfaces for Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo, among others. This eliminates the hassle of exporting and uploading via the browser. Last but not least, iMovie is even available for iPhone and iPad, where it offers many of the same features.

The only disadvantage: iMovie is only available to Apple users. But if you have a Mac, iPad or iPhone, you probably already have the software pre-installed on your device.

Particularly useful functions:

editing 4K material
Upload to social networks such as Facebook, YouTube or Vimeo
video templates
apps
User requirements: Beginners

2. Movie Maker
Video editing software for event planners - Movie Maker
Movie Maker by V3TApps (via Microsoft)
It's called Movie Maker, but it has basically nothing to do with the Movie Maker of the past: The Movie Maker we grew up with was discontinued by Microsoft in January 2017. This new Movie Maker is from V3TApps and presents itself as the spiritual successor to the free Microsoft video editing solution.

It includes all the standard features, including things like trimming, transitions, merging videos, filters and titles. It recognizes the most common video formats (such as .avi, .flv or .mp4), but cannot edit 4K material.

Just as iMovie is only available for Apple, Movie Maker only runs on Windows devices – including mobile devices for quick editing on the go.

What Movie Maker unfortunately cannot do is upload videos directly to social media or YouTube channels.

Particularly useful functions:

apps
User requirements: Beginners

3. OpenShot Video Editor

OpenShot is a free, cross-platform, open source solution. Whether Windows, Mac or Linux: OpenShot is there for everyone.

Although the interface is less appealing than iMovie or Movie Maker, OpenShot's source code is freely accessible. With the necessary background knowledge, you can adapt the code to meet your exact needs and implement certain features that are not originally included in the product.

In addition to this customizability, OpenShot offers everything you would expect from a video editing software: trimming, audio mixing and editing, transitions, animated titles and effects, filters, watermarks and video templates.

Personally, what I like best is that you can add an unlimited number of image tracks. This means that several videos can be played simultaneously in one frame, for example side by side or nested. And if you want to edit high-resolution videos, OpenShot has a solution that can handle 4K resolution.

The only disadvantage of OpenShot is the lack of mobile versions and interfaces to social networks.

Particularly useful functions:

Open source/customizable
Multiple image and sound tracks
editing 4K material

4th shotcut

Just like OpenShot, users can access Shotcut's source code and customize it as needed. For those with the programming skills, the flexibility this provides is invaluable.

Of course, Shotcut also offers all the standard functions for video editing: trimming, audio track editing, titles, transitions and filters. What is particularly striking about Shotcut is the large number of file formats and the ability to edit 4K videos.

Unfortunately, this is offset by a certain lack of practical features such as social media uploads, apps and video templates for plug & play projects.

Particularly useful functions:

editing 4K material
Open source/customizable
Wide range of file formats

Other free software
The freeware trick can of course easily be applied to other software categories. We have already indonesia telegram data compiled lists of freeware for specific purposes elsewhere, some of which are sure to be useful for your business.
