Contactless payment becomes standard due to Corona

Post by hasan018542 »

The boom in contactless payments at the checkout since the beginning of the corona pandemic continues. In the three months from February to April, 9 out of 10 (85 percent) of German citizens made at least one contactless payment in a store with a card, smartphone or smartwatch. At the end of last year, the proportion was 79 percent. This is the result of a representative survey of 1,004 people in Germany aged 16 and over commissioned by the digital association Bitkom. Almost a quarter (23 percent) pay contactless every day greece gambling data or several times a day (from September to November 2020: 18 percent). Even more use contactless payment options several times a week (26 percent, 2020: 28 percent) or at least once a week (27 percent, 2020: 20 percent). “Contactless payment has become the absolute standard since the beginning of the corona pandemic - and will remain so. It is convenient, quick and particularly secure with a smartwatch or smartphone thanks to biometric security measures such as fingerprint scanners," says Bitkom CEO Dr. Bernhard Rohleder. 4 out of 10 (38 percent) customers have used a smartphone or smartwatch at the checkout in the past three months. 7 percent even pay in this way daily or several times a day, another 5 percent several times a week, and 7 percent at least once a week. Around a fifth (19 percent) use smartphones or smartwatches less often at the checkout.
