The boom in contactless payments at the checkout since the beginning of the corona pandemic continues. In the three months from February to April, 9 out of 10 (85 percent) of German citizens made at least one contactless payment in a store with a card, smartphone or smartwatch. At the end of last year, the proportion was 79 percent. This is the result of a representative survey of 1,004 people in Germany aged 16 and over commissioned by the digital association Bitkom.
