What you need to know about the new privacy features in iOS 14

Post by zakiyatasnim »

Apple has released the long-awaited iOS 14 with a ton of new features and interface improvements. The most anticipated of these are home screen widgets, as well as a completely revamped launcher and app library organizer.
As you would expect from a company that prides itself on its privacy policy, iOS 14 also includes important improvements in this area — from prohibiting precise location tracking to notifying you if one of your passwords is compromised.

Approximate location

The bottom line: Previously, when you granted temporary or permanent sweden number data location access, an app would receive the user's exact address. In iOS 14, you can grant access to an approximate location within a specific area.
Why it matters: Some apps, like weather or local news, don't require a user's precise location to work, so the new feature helps keep your movements private.
How to use: In Settings, go to the Privacy tab and select Location. Then tap on the app you want to use and turn off Precise Location.
Camera and microphone indicators

What's the point: when an application accesses the camera and microphone, a colored indicator appears at the top of the screen.
Why this matters: Many users are concerned that an app is accessing their camera or microphone without telling them. Now, indicators warn them when these features are being used.
How to use: If an app is currently accessing the microphone, an orange dot will automatically appear in the upper left corner of the iPhone screen, and a green dot will appear when the camera is in use. You can find out which apps have recently accessed the microphone and camera in the Control Center - a notification will appear at the top of the screen.

The bottom line: users can now give apps access to only certain photos in their library.
Why this matters: Many people store personal photos on their iPhone. Previously, when an app needed access to your library, the only option was to give it access to all images or close it entirely.
How to use: When an app asks for permission to access your photo library in iOS 14, you need to tap “Choose Photos” in the pop-up window and select the photos you want. All other images will be closed to the app.
