selling it. Unexpectedly, Frederick Philips's youngest son Anton, who had studied commercial affairs in London, came to the rescue. Thanks to his energy and entrepreneurial talent, Philips managed to make a profit by 1895 and increase production by more than 2.5 times. By 1897, the company had increased its staff from 60 to 170 and was producing 630,000 lamps a year.

In 1898, Anton Philips went to Russia, where he managed to obtain a contract to supply 50,000 carbon filament lamps to illuminate the Winter Palace - this was the company's first major international contract, which became a real catalyst for its activities on the world market. From this moment on, Philips expanded its presence in other countries - for example, in France and the USA.

It was during World War I (1914-1918) that Philips began its canada number data work in the healthcare sector. During these years, the company repaired and manufactured X-ray tubes. The company was able to change their design to reduce radiation levels and improve the quality of imaging.

The first Philips Research laboratories (NatLab) opened in 1914. The samples created there paved the way for the development of radio tubes, photovoltaic cells, radio communications, and X-ray machines.

The Second World War was a test of strength for Philips: despite the bombing, the company continued to work. During the occupation of the Netherlands, under the orders of Fritz Philips, who inherited the management of the company from his father Anton Philips, the company contributed to the fight against the German invaders in the rear. To thwart the plans of the occupiers, the company hid production capabilities, slowed down its pace and specially produced defective lamps. To prevent the deportation of Jews from the Vucht camp to Auschwitz, Fritz Philips hired 469 Jewish prisoners, 382 of whom survived.

Even in difficult times, Philips engineers did not stop working on new inventions - it was at this time that many technologies were born in the laboratories, the production of which began in the post-war period.
