The Ministry of Digital Development, together with the FSB, is conducting an investigation into reports of a possible data leak at the main contractor for servicing the passport issuance system, the Voskhod Research Institute. At the moment, the Ministry of Digital Development has not confirmed the fact of the leak.

In any case, this will not allow illegal access to biometric data," a representative of the Ministry of Digital Development told RBC.

Earlier, a source of RBC in the IT market reported that the Voskhod Research Institute may have leaked "tens of percent of the database of foreign passports, which had been maintained since 2006." According to him, the leak was organized by an employee of the company; the prosecutor's office is currently investigating this fact.

Research Institute "Voskhod" is subordinated to the Ministry of Digital Development, it is engaged in the creation of IT solutions for government bodies, implements and develops new formats of interaction between the state and citizens. Among other things, "Voskhod" services the interdepartmental segment of the State System of Passport and Visa Documents of the New Generation. Among the functions of this system is the maintenance and use of interconnected databases of metric and biometric information, ensuring automated control of passport and visa documents for authorized federal executive bodies, etc.

Current financial indicators are not disclosed. Among the latest contracts of the Federal State Automated Institution are support of the Mobile Voter subsystem of the State Automated System (GAS) Elections for 59.6 million rubles, as well as support of the subsystem for automation of electoral processes and technological programs of the State Automated System Elections for 76.8 million rubles.
