Easily add categories and subcategories in WordPress post URLs

Post by Mostafa044 »

We do not recommend changing permalinks if your WordPress website has been running for a while (i.e. more than six months). Otherwise, you may lose your search engine rankings.

If you need to change your permalink structure, we recommend that you backup your site in case of errors and create redirects from the old URLs to the new ones .

First, you need to go to the Settings ” Permalinks page in your WordPress admin dashboard. There, under the General Settings section, you need to click on the “Custom Structure” option.

Next, you need to /%category%/%postname%/add in the field next to the custom structure.

Then don’t forget to click the “Save Changes” button to save your custom permalink structure settings .
WordPress will now start adding categories and list of ghana cell phone numbe subcategories in WordPress URLs. You can see the custom permalink settings in action by creating a new post or editing an existing post.

Simply assign a category (and subcategory if necessary) to the post in the sidebar and click the “Update” button.

WordPress URL with category and subcategory
You will notice that the category name and subcategory name are included in the post permalink.

What would the URL look like if I use multiple categories or subcategories?
Let's say you sort your WordPress blog posts into several categories or subcategories.

WordPress will only include one category and one subcategory in the URL. If you have not selected a subcategory, only one parent category will be displayed.
