WPBeginner turns 9 – reviews and updates

It's the ninth of the fourth. On July 4th, nine years ago, I started WPBeginner. It's incredible that we've come such a long way.

Like every year, I would like to take a few minutes and give a brief review of all the important things that have happened both in business and in my personal life.

I started using WordPress when I was 16 and founded WPBeginner at age 19 with a single mission: to make WordPress easy for beginners.

Since then, WPBeginner has grown to become the largest free WordPress resource site for beginners.

Personal Updates
My son Solomon is now 20 months old. Time flies and he is growing up so fast. Amanda (my wife) and Solomon have accompanied me on many of my business trips and we have gone on some fun trips as well.

Since the last WPBeginner anniversary post, we've been to Turkey, Dubai, Pakistan, Mexico (Cabo, Punta Mita, Cancun), and the Bahamas (twice). Solomon also attended WordCamp US in Nashville, bringing his total WordCamp attendance to 3.

Balkhi Family 2018

Earlier this year, I was recognized as an Outstanding Young Alumnus by the University of Florida (my alma mater). I also got to watch the college football game from the President's Suite and met a lot of great people.
