According to a Facebook spokesperson , QR payments have been integrated in order to “ make it even easier to make payments in Messenger. We’ve started testing the ability for people to use QR codes and link payments when they want to send or request money.”

For now, only US Messenger users will be able to try out this feature, which will be available to those over 18 years of age and who have a Visa or MasterCard debit card, a PayPal account or one of the prepaid cards supported by the app, and who set their currency to US dollars.

If the integration is successful and expands to other finland business email database markets, QR payments could be a great addition to Facebook, especially since its marketplace has taken off in several countries as a place where products and services can be found between individuals.

In fact, QR codes have seen a significant resurgence since the lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, in a world where contactless payments are an everyday task.
