In fact, 85 % of Spaniards are concerned about the possibility of being the victim of an online scam , according to a survey by Avast, which was reported by Indisa . Despite this, only 38% of those surveyed say they know how to protect themselves from an online scam. And only one in two (51%) knows how to verify the security of a seller when making an online purchase.
PaynoPain has identified the four most common online scams that are threatening Internet users and those who buy from any e-commerce site. They are the following:
1. Phishing
Cybercriminals impersonate real companies poland phone data and institutions and send emails to try to lure users to fake web pages that imitate the originals . Once they have managed to get their victim to click and land on those pages, they are asked for confidential, financial or personal information , such as passwords, account numbers or transaction information.
To do this, they try to convince the user that they will have serious problems if they do not click on the link and log in to their account.
2. Vishing
This is an evolution of phishing . In this case, scammers use a telephone number to trick users . Through this call, a person or system requests personal or financial information.
Cybercriminals can pose as a bank, a company with which the victim has a contract, or an e-commerce site where the victim usually makes purchases, asking for this information without the user being too suspicious, since these are entities that are familiar to them.
