It is a fact that social media is a truly global phenomenon, but the rate of growth that the social bubble has achieved today is still surprising.
According to the latest Global Digital Statshot study, the number of social media users worldwide has already surpassed 3 billion.
A really high figure, but not surprising considering that there are 1 million new users on the platforms every day.
In the last quarter, between May and July, the number of Internet users has increased by 8 million , while the number of social media users has increased by 121 million, or 4%.
Mobile users have also seen a significant increase of 2% to 92 million, while mobile austria phone number social media users have also grown by 3% to 82 million.
These updated data also reveal that Facebook continues to hold the social media crown with 2.046 billion active users per month , of which 87% access the platform from mobile devices and 59% log on to the platform every day.
YouTube comes in second with 1.5 billion users, followed by WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger which are tied with 1.2 billion.
Also striking is the continued growth in mobile usage , which is gaining more than 650,000 new users every day. Smartphones have become an essential part of users' lives.
So much so that there is hardly any area that has not been invaded by apps. Communications , content, games, travel , food, health and fitness are just some of the most common categories.
And continuing with mobile, Android continues to dominate the market, taking 72.9% of the market share while Apple remains at 19.4%.
