In nominal terms, the volume of advertising expenditure in 2011 exceeded the level of 2008. However, even a not very deep analysis shows that in reality the advertising market is very far from restoring its economic position.

At the end of February, the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia (ACAR) summed up the results of 2011 in the advertising and marketing services market. At first glance, they seem quite optimistic. According to ACAR and TNS, the total number of advertisers in Russia in 2011 increased by 7% compared to 2010 and amounted to 68 thousand companies and organizations.

Here, by the way, is the answer to the question: "How many medium-sized businesses are there in Russia?" To be correct, we should subtract from these 68 thousand 10-15 thousand small companies that "accidentally" appeared with their advertising on the Internet, outdoor advertising or city channels. But then we should also add 15-20 thousand medium-sized companies, mainly working in the b2b segment, which do not advertise in the media. As a result, we will again get the same 70-75 thousand medium-sized companies.
