From dog shaming to kid & baby shaming

'Kidshaming' is booming. This is about parents who want to teach their children a lesson via social media. They 'discipline' (often meant to be funny) their children in a video or photo. They put these on TikTok or Instagram, for example. But is this trend really that funny?

You've probably seen a post that falls under kidshaming. These types of posts often go viral and reach a large audience. A TikTok account that is known for this is that of Derek Hensley . In one of the videos, he smashes his daughter's TV because she didn't clean her room.


Kidshaming is not something new. In recent years we have seen several posts that fit this description b2b email list But since 2021 it seems to have become a real hype that many parents are only too happy to participate in.

Dog owners (or owners of other animals) may recognize themselves in this. But of course there is nothing wrong with spreading your dog on social media in a funny way. We regularly see videos and photos with dog shaming , mainly on YouTube. The dog is not bothered by this.

Or maybe, like me, you laughed at a video of a cat cleaning up after itself . Back when I had a TikTok account, I hesitated about making a similar video with one of my cats.

But the fairly innocent petshaming is not comparable to kidshaming, which is happening more and more often. Ranging from TV actions like that of Derek Hensley to similar photos as we know from dogshaming.
