The challenges of regulatory agencies
In 2019, Law 13,848 , known as the Regulatory Agencies Law, was published. The legislation established a new legal framework for regulatory agencies in order to update the rules for management, organization, decision-making processes, and social control of these entities. The law also provides for the appointment of directors, standardizing the number of directors and terms of office, in addition to creating technical requirements that must be met by all those appointed to the board of directors. Factors such as governance and transparency were also established with the new law.
