A great example of a usefu

light
As mentioned above, natural light, such as light coming in from a window, is ideal for cake smash photos if you’re taking them yourself. If indoors, set up near a large window or use soft lighting to avoid harsh shadows.

If you use a photographer, they will likely use natural light or studio light. Most amazing photographers use studio lighting and will know how to create beautiful lighting for your baby!

angle
Take photos from different angles. Use a mix of close-ups and wide-angle shots. Getting down to the child’s level helps to really capture their expressions and movements. If you’ve set up with a subject, make sure you pull back enough to get the entire background in some shots.

detail
Don’t forget to capture the little details, like little hands covered in frosting, country code philippines list cake crumbs, and your child’s happy expression. These are what make a cake smash such a delightful moment.

patience
Be patient and be prepared to capture spontaneous moments. Some of the best photos come from unexpected reactions and interactions with the cake.

After the cake smash
Once your smash cake is done, it’s time to clean up and enjoy the memories. Here are some post-smash tips:

Cleaning
Have wipes, towels, and a change of clothes ready for your child. A quick shower may be necessary to remove all the frosting and cake. If you are in a studio, do your best to remove all the frosting you can. It can be helpful to bring a disposable bag, like a grocery bag, to put dirty clothes in.

When you're ready to clean your clothes, I recommend spraying a laundry stain remover (I like to shout) on any scuffed areas. Let it sit for about 20 minutes, then wash your item at the highest temperature your clothing fabric can handle (check the label!). Many washers have an extra button that lets you select options like "steam to remove stains." This is awesome, and I highly recommend using it! You'll never go back. It can often even remove stains that formed from previous wash cycles.
