Digital Farts

Post by asimj1 »

Some time ago, Anglo-Saxonism came over us like an avalanche. Anyone who thought they were anything threw around Anglicisms. This was mainly done by those who were mentally furthest removed from the Anglo-Saxon world. Suddenly the department was no longer called "upkeep" but "maintenance" - an expression that very america rcs data few could pronounce correctly. If we hadn't spoken out then, the SBB would now be called Swiss Rail SR. Today's avalanche is called digitalization. We have been digitizing for decades, but now a major change is in the air. Disrupt or you will be disrupted! Now you have to demonstrate that you are at the forefront.

I have been using an electric bike in the Bern area for some time now. The customer benefit is directly measurable: I save around 150 hours a year. I recently switched to a digital model with a SIM card and built-in display. I should be able to see where my bike is at all times on my app. It never works. Recently my display showed "Theft" while I was driving at full speed, the motor stopped and I was just able to get out onto the sidewalk. At least after a while I was able to turn the theft notification off again via the app. Looking at it objectively, the considerable additional cost of the digital upgrade is offset by minimal customer benefit.
