Study: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Are Must-Haves for New Security Tools

The threat of data security is scaring and causing distrust among IT professionals, according to the Oracle and KPMG Cloud Threat Report 2020, a report from Oracle and KPMG . The survey of 750 cybersecurity and IT professionals worldwide found that the patchwork approach to data security, misconfigured services, and confusion with new cloud security models have created a crisis of trust. And only those companies that have made security part of their business culture will be able to overcome it.



The study showed that IT professionals are more concerned about the security of their company's data than about security at home.

IT professionals are three times more concerned about the security of a company's financial data and intellectual property than they are about the security of their own homes.
IT professionals are concerned about cloud service providers , with 80% of professionals believing that the cloud service providers they do business with will become their competitors in key markets.
75% of IT professionals believe that the public cloud is bettersecured than their own data centers, but 92% of IT professionals do not believe that their organizations are fully prepared to use secure public cloud services.
Nearly 80% of IT professionals say that recent data breaches cayman islands number data experienced by other organizations have forced them to strengthen data protection as they grow their businesses.
IT professionals try to fix data protection problems by “patching holes” with various cybersecurity solutions, but they face a virtually impossible task because these systems are rarely configured correctly.

78% of organizations use more than 50 different solutions to ensure cybersecurity, 37% of companies use more than 100 such solutions .
Organizations where misconfigured cloud services were found experienced 10 or more data loss incidents that year .
59% of organizations reported that they had experienced a targeted phishing attack on the credentials of employees with privileged cloud accounts.
The most common types of misconfiguration are:

unsecured web servers and other types of server loads (35%);
lack of multi-factor authentication when accessing basic services (33%).
Shifting responsibility leads to confusion and security breaches
Organizations are moving more business-critical workloads to the cloud than ever before. And the rising consumption of cloud services is creating new security blind spots as IT and cloud providers struggle to understand where their individual responsibilities lie for data security. This confusion is making it difficult for information security organizations to keep up with the growing threat landscape.
