The Viejas Band of Mission Indians is part of the Kumeyaay Indian Nation of Southern California. Their language belongs to the Hokan language group; languages included in this group are spoken by peoples from southern Oregon to southern Mexico. The Viejas Band is one of 12 Kumeyaay bands. Traditionally, the Kumeyaay depended on the land for their subsistence, not only gathering the area's native plants and hunting wild game, but also farming within a complex system of agricultural lands. The large concentration of Spanish missionaries in the area, with their zeal for assimilation, negatively affected the retention of the Kumeyaay people's native language and culture.
The Viejas Band is governed by a two-tier tribal government. The general council is comprised of all voting adult members of the tribe. She returns in the finale, in Fakeblock's loft after Maeby shows her Ron Howard's Monster, which reveals her true birth mother, Mimi, making Lucille her sister. She disguised herself as a protester and repeatedly beat Tobias. When she reveals herself, she hugs Lucille and reunites with the family. She is also willing to take Tobias back and they become a family again, with Maeby. She thinks Michael will return for good after hearing the news of her departure.
