Miami startup SquarEat has offered a new form of a familiar food. Chicken, beef, asparagus and other products are pressed into ready-to-eat squares. They can be eaten separately or combined with familiar dishes. Internet users have already compared the idea to the dystopian food "Through the Snow" and "Green Soylent."
SquarEat was probably born from a simple idea: what if all food was square? The company claims to have “created a new concept of food” by simply chopping ingredients and pressing them into ready-to-eat 50-gram squares. They can be purchased in packs of 4 or 6, or ordered for home delivery.
The product can be eaten hot or cold, reheated in the microwave egypt number data or in a frying pan. The range of flavors is quite wide: chicken, beef, asparagus, peanut, sea bass and salmon.
Laura Vacaflores, marketing director at SquarEat, says many people have misunderstood the concept. She notes that the square shape of the products allows for standardization of the cooking process and packaging, and that a single square is not a substitute for a full meal. The idea is to eat multiple squares (which is convenient for counting calories) or combine them with regular-shaped products.
“Thanks to the square shape, we can launch mass production using gourmet technologies, which allows us to create higher quality food products and sell them at an affordable price,” Vacaflores noted. “We are not the first to think of using a square shape for food products. The only thing we ask consumers is to abandon their habitual beliefs about the appearance of food.”
Vacaflores also added that each square is made with quality ingredients and is ready to eat right away. “We don’t use substitutes. The chicken square is made with chicken breast, black pepper, lemon and rosemary,” she said. “No additives. A lot of people think it’s a meal replacement, but it’s not, it’s just chicken.”
