Lightspeed’s “Fireside Chat” was a warm and friendly affair. Hosted by our President, JD Saint-Martin, it was an intimate discussion with two incredible leaders and Lightspeed customers, Melissa Joy Manning , CEO of her Brooklyn-based jewelry company, and Peter Litvinenko , Director of Food and Beverage for boutique hotel brand Life House . The chat may have been informal, but it touched on important business topics. From sustainability to hiring practices to the highs and lows of Litvinenko and Manning’s careers, there were plenty of timely topics discussed. Here, they share how Lightspeed’s advancements in technology and innovation are helping them grow and evolve.

Plays well and associates well with others
“We were looking for a company that could grow with us. We were looking at systems and looking at their ability to support different integrations, work with different partners, and also expand the API interface to work with our PMS software. What strikes me is that we’ve grown together. Lightspeed has been very responsive. At Life House , we sometimes have properties that need to be opened every week or two, so we need equipment shipped overnight, and contracts need to be signed quickly. We couldn’t have done that with any other provider.” — Peter Litvinenko
“When Lightspeed acquired [Vend], there were some changes that I thought were really positive in terms of more robust features, especially around payment processing, which kind of blew me away. We were an early adopter and it pretty much transformed our credit card processing balancing systems, which were previously manual. At one point, we were even looking at shipping all of that to India to have someone reconcile all of those charges. The fact that it came right through the portal and onto the page, and it was easy to download and give to my accountant to sync, saved us a lot of time. And now I’m wondering what else you have at Lightspeed.” — Melissa Joy Manning
